Where it all began
Janet’s journey into gemmology began as she was exploring her passion for gemstones on The Gemfields at Rubyvale, Sapphire and Anakie with a fortuitous introduction to Chris Evans and her husband Dave, the former owners and founders of Gemval in 2009.
ENTHUSIASM AND DEDICATION
With great enthusiasm and dedication to her new found career Janet completed an array of studies; with the International School of Gemology (IGS), the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and foremost with the Gemological Association of Australia (GAA) and National Council of Jewellery Valuers Australia (NCJV). Earning her accreditations as a qualified gemologist, and a certified jewellery and gemstone valuer.

With gratitude, Janet is now the proud owner and principle valuer of Gemval, offering her services in two locations; Mackay and The central Queensland Gemfields.
Achieving her dream later in life has been an immensely rewarding and fulfilling path — one marked by dedication, rigorous study, and a lifelong passion for all things gem-related.
